Dealing with marital problems

Marital counselling clears the way for you to advance together. You can use it to make sure you are on the same page as your partner and you both know the terms of the contract which you are signing.  Issues like your finances, the division of household chores, your families and their expectations, your sexuality, your future plans, your ideas about careers and children, the compatibility of your religion and values and your living arrangements are just a few that can crop up in the early stages of marriage.

Research shows that the optimum times for couples to benefit from counselling are a year before the wedding and six months after. Later, under stress, negative habits and relationship patterns develop, become entrenched, and are harder to erase.

The most successful marriages occur between couples who understand that relationships aren't all roses. While compatible personality types give some couples an advantage, no 'soul mates’ exist that do not have their marital conflicts.
Marriages that work come from couples who accept the thorns that come with real roses.  Marriage is both work and pleasure.
